Difficult for my cabinet, had to fashion a special mounting plate. October 28, 2008 Lot more work than I thought it would be. I thought it was finally worth it, but after two months, the coffeemaker just stopped working. No power. It wasn't the outlet, I tried several different outlets. I'll keep it and take it apart for fun, see if it's a loose wire or something, of course I'm terrible at saving my receipts so I can't return it. I went out and bought another coffee maker, different brand.
coffetime October 28, 2008 We had an older version (1 year old)of this unit which short circuited out when the pot overflowed. Decided to try the same one again & have noted some improvements, i.e. the ability to turn it off after you press the "on" button, the water carafe come apart for easy cleaning. Now, if it doesn't short circuit, we have a winner.
I should have paid attention October 28, 2008 I read all the reviews of this product and chose to ignore them as this was to be a replacement for an older same model that had served us well. Unfortunately, all the reviews were accurate. I just finished wiping up yet another overflow from all over the counter top staining everything within reach. Further the hanging of the pot turned out to be a real challenge. We ended up with long screws sticking up into the cabinet. The building maintainance man was puzzled and finally bought some shorter screws that allowed plate storage on the shelf. This company (Black and Decker) is a very successful huge enterprise and it is puzzling to me why they don't listen to their customers and improve on those items that clearly have problems.
So far, so good. October 25, 2008 Was skeptical about getting this product after reading the less than stellar reviews. Wan't able to find any under-the-cupboard-type alternates though so decided to take my chances. Had it for a month now and has been working fine. Had one messy spillover incident when I didn't have the pot in place properly, that that happens with all coffee makers.
Black and Decker Spacemaker Coffeemaker ODC440B October 17, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
When my old spacemaker coffeepot broke after 9 years, I read reviews for this coffepot and purchased a different brand instead and that coffepot leaked from the bottom in just 2 months! So I purchased this one in spite of all the negative reviews. I waited over a month to see if I had any problems and it works like a dream. I love the separate water holder and I have not had any problems with it. The auto timer works great, it doesn't leak, it looks great and I would purchase it again. I do make sure the water holder is secure as well as the coffee filter pushed all the way in. I do not mount mine as I just leave it on the counter, so I can't comment on that. I definately would recommed this coffee pot for purchase.
