Amazon.com Review Placed into the deepest part of a roast away from the bone, this thermometer will take the meat's internal temperature reading quickly. No more guesswork on whether the turkey is done or the beef is overcooked. Constructed of sturdy stainless steel and calibrated for accuracy, the 1-1/2-inch-wide, easy-to-read dial displays a temperature range of 0 to 220 degrees Fahrenheit, with markings for rare, medium, and well-done beef; cured and pre-cooked ham; pork, veal, and poultry. The thermometer is not intended to be left in the meat during cooking, and should be washed by hand. OXO has attached a convenient pocket/apron clip (the kind that opens and closes like alligator jaws) just below the dial, and provides a storage sleeve for the 5-1/2-inch probe printed with a quick-reference temperature guide (in both Fahrenheit and Celsius) for various types of meat. OXO will repair, refund, or replace the thermometer if satisfaction is not complete. --Ann Bieri
Product Description Are you thoroughly cooking your meat to the desired and safe internal temperature? Our parents used to speculate about how the roast or the turkey was doing. This kitchen tool takes the puzzle out of it. The OXO GOOD GRIPS Instant Read Meat Thermometer indicates the temperature of the meat as it's in the oven, being prepared. Insert the stainless steel probe into your meat away from the bone to get an accurate reading of the internal temperature. Large numbers and readings for poultry, beef, pork, veal and ham make this Thermometer easy to read and easy to use. A storage sleeve with USDA recommended cooking temperatures and Celsius conversions, plus a convenient alligator-style clip lets you clip the Thermometer to your apron between readings and makes storage clean and easy. While this Thermometer is not intended to be left in the oven during cooking, its stainless steel and glass construction will withstand oven temperatures if accidentally left inside. Sturdy stainless steel construction

Good meat thermometer September 5, 2008 I really like this meat thermometer. I've had it a couple years and am pleased with it. Seems to measure meat temps. properly. I've never used it for boiling water, however. Just wish it was dishwasher safe.
Yes, it's crap. November 19, 2006 2 out of 3 found this review helpful
If you buy this this thing, be prepared to cut off about an inch off the tip, 'cause apparently the tip is just there for aesthetics. Plunging this thermometer into boiling water, it won't read accurately (15-20deg under) until at least an inch of the tip is immersed.
piece of junk August 20, 2005 15 out of 19 found this review helpful
first time it was washed it filled up with water... never worked right again!!! stay away
Not accurate July 5, 2005 15 out of 20 found this review helpful
In boiling water, read about 195-200 deg. instead of 212. How hard is it to make a thermometer that actually measures temperature accurately?
