Amazon.com Review From KitchenAid's Gourmet Essentials line comes this cookware set made of hard-anodized aluminum. Durable, handsomely finished in matte charcoal gray, and known for its exceptional heat distribution and retention properties, hard-anodized cookware is a very popular choice for the home chef. KitchenAid embellishes these pots with stainless-steel handles, riveted for strength and wrapped with cushy, stay-cool silicone grips. The lids, made of break-resistant glass for optimum viewing, also feature silicone-wrapped handles, highly arched to enable easy grasping with a potholder or oven mitt. Both the pans and lids are oven-safe up to 400 degrees F. An excellent value, this 12-piece set consists of the most frequently used kitchen pots and pans and makes a great gift set. The two skillets, measuring 8 and 10 inches in diameter, handle everyday frying and sautéing needs, from eggs-over-easy to grilled cheese sandwiches to fish filets, then crepes for dessert. Three saucepans holding 1, 2, and 3 quarts let you boil a single egg, heat soup, and slow-cook a creamy risotto with wild mushrooms. The large 8-quart stockpot with two loop handles works admirably for family-sized batches of pasta, chili, soup, and corn-on-the-cob. Finally, the 12-inch covered sauté pan with its helper handle tackles generous quantities of fried chicken, braised meats, stir-fries, and poached salmon. The nonstick finish releases food quickly and makes clean up by hand a snap. It's best to keep the nonstick cookware out of the dishwasher. KitchenAid covers the set with a one-year, hassle-free replacement warranty. --Ann Bieri What's in the Box 12-piece cookware set. SUPERB COOKWARE FOR A REASONABLE PRICE! December 31, 2008 I received this in the mail today and had an opportunity to use it while making dinner. This cookware superceded my expectations. It is very well-constructed and durable. I am especially pleased with the ergonomic and handles which seem to detract the heat and make "hot-pot" handling a breeze. I am the type to have cookware for a very long time and I was very hesitant to buy a new set. I already own a Le Creuset cookware set but I thought I'd purchase another set to handle my day-to-day cooking tasks (Le Creuset is extremely heavy afterall!) I am so pleased with this set and I know it will last a long time.
Pros: -Excellent heat distribution -Heats quickly -Nonstick feature works ridiculously well -Cleanup is a actually fun (ok, a bit of an exaggeration) -Cushy handles are easy to hold and do not retain that much heat (making that trip from the stove to the sink a cinch) -Aesthetically pleasing cookware -An excellent value
Cons: Yet to be determined
palmettopeach December 31, 2008 I was so pleasantly surprised with this cookware. It's very attractive, highly functional, and a easy clean-up for my family. We all were just blown away with how well this cookware performed. I also bought these at a fabulous price. This was a great investment.
Amazing cookware set for an amazing price December 26, 2008 While I have had the cookware set a relatively short time period, it has gone through the rigors of a Christmas feast for 20 people and come out with flying colors. This is a very sturdy set of cookware. The padded grips on each handle diffuse heat very well to the point where no hot pads are needed when taking pots off the stove. I use these on a gas stove and noticed the smallest pot is hard to balance on the burners. It is a little heavy for the base of the pot. Using the cover seems to remedy this problem. My favorite piece by far is the 5 qt. covered sautee pan which contains food so much better than trying to fit everything my old frying pan. You will not be sorry to choose the 12 piece over the 10 piece because of this cooking gem. Overall, I am very happy with the product. The price was amazing as well; it was listed on sale at Kohls for $249 vs. $129 at Amazon. Considering I forsee this cookware set holding up over the next 10 years, the value is outstanding.
Awesome Deal December 3, 2008 This is the best set of cookware I have ever had. It does not get any better than this. What I was most excited about was the deal I got on this cookware through Amazon. It is of the utmost quality and cleanup is a breeze. It was priced at over $500 and I got it for $129, free shipping.
I am confident this cookware will last me for a long time to come. Thanks to Amazon and Kitchenaid for making this a good experience.
GREAT PURCHASE December 2, 2008 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
I bought 2 of this set 10 months ago for $149.99. I use them everyday and they still look great. All the reviews are accurate. They are not dishwasher safe. But if you forget, and your pot has white streaks or marks, just use some orange oil (just on the outside) and it will bring them back to its original color.
