Does the job October 9, 2008 0 out of 1 found this review helpful
Not sure what else to say about it. The set's convenient and not overpriced.
A good organizer September 9, 2008 I bought these to get our vitamin population under control. They are very cool looking and sturdy. I believe the top seal could go back to R&D for a tighter fit, but the vitamins are doing fine (I imagine the silica packs help). I'd buy them again for this use or for storing spices that do not need a tight seal. The company shipped them quickly and safely. No further interaction was needed.
Clean, Modern, Functional! June 15, 2007 7 out of 7 found this review helpful
My fiance and I live in a pretty cramped kitchen and therefore have little room in the cupboards and even less space on the countertops for spices, so we were really excited to find these spice racks. We ordered 2 of them and absolutely fell in love with the way they look in our kitchen: clean, modern, gorgeous, so we've just ordered another.
As for function, it is just awesome to have our spices right next to the stove for such easy access. Because the jars are rectangular, they are able to fit a little more than a standard round spice jar from the store, so no leftovers. The metal lids fit perfectly over the plastic covers so there's no problem with caps and lids popping off.
However, the HOLES in the plastic part are smaller than the average grocery store spice containers. They are ideal for powdery spices like cumin, ground cinnamon, and even small leafy spices like basil and oregano, but the larger red-pepper-type spices won't be able to pour through. It really doesn't bother me in the least since the plastic part is quite easy to remove (no prying with long finger nails or butter knives required), but I know it might annoy some people. Let it also be known that the plastic lids MUST be in place for the metal lids to be able to fit securely (can't leave them off), so you WILL have to remove the plastic each time you want to use the larger spices like a cinnamon stick or cloves.
Also, we chose not to get the matching labels since we wanted the jars to have a very clean look (and because we pretty much know which spices are which). For some of the easily-confused, green, leafy spices, we just took a sharpie marker and wrote directly onto the bottom of the jar. It hasn't smudged or rubbed off at all, but if we need to erase later, it's nothing a little rubbing alcohol won't take off.
I absolutely recommend this rack for anyone who wants to save space in the kitchen and wants a nice, clean look, but if you want bigger pouring holes, get a rack (without jars included) that will hold the original grocery store jars.
Photo probably doesn't do it justice June 11, 2007 8 out of 8 found this review helpful
I bought two of these and will probably buy two more. I needed something that would not take up counter space and would be sturdy enough to hang. Plus I wanted something a little different than the cheesy rotating racks you find everywhere (Target, BBB, etc.) I didn't even have to hang them because the racks sit perfectly on the back of the stove (with the width only two will fit that way though).
-the jars are well-made and a good size (they are larger than I had envisioned). -the only drawback is I will have to make my own labels (which is fine because I usually find the pre-made ones tacky).
Highly recommend!
