Amazon.com Review Thanks to the rising popularity of sushi and other Asian delicacies, the Asian-style chef's knife, called a santoku, is now commonly found in American kitchens. This seven-inch santoku from the Henckels Twin Gourmet collection features a broad blade with a razor-sharp edge, and is designed to tackle a multitude of chopping, slicing, and dicing food preparation tasks. In contrast to a hollow-edge santoku, the blade on this one is smooth, yet it still excels at cutting paper-thin slices of fish, meat, or vegetables. The santoku makes a versatile addition to any kitchen and a superb gift for the chef who especially enjoys preparing Asian cuisine. The Henckels Twin Gourmet collection features traditional three-rivet styling, a visible full tang for strength and balance, and a single-piece blade that is stamped, rather than forged, which helps keeps the line reasonably priced. The blade, made from high-carbon, no-stain steel and strengthened in Henckels' exclusive Friodur ice-hardening process, retains its sharp edge through extensive cutting and chopping. Made in Germany and covered by a lifetime warranty, Twin Gourmet knives are dishwasher-safe but are best cared for when washed and dried by hand. --Ann Bieri

Great knife! December 27, 2007 Ok, I used it for the very first time yesterday while prepping for a Christmas party and I already have two nicks on my fingers! It is that sharp. It also has the perfect weight and made chopping, slicing so much easier. I was in fact so impressed by it that I just declared it my favorite knife (I own other Henckels). My sister-in-law helped me slice some veggies yesterday and she couldn't stop talking about how she much she liked the knife so i gave her one of the two I ordered.
The knife of Choice December 25, 2007 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
This is my 1st Henckel knife and it is a beauty keeps a good edge, cuts nicely, has a good feel in my hand ,well balanced, I have purchased other knives made by Henckel for celebrity chefs but their own line that says Henckel are the best made,Make sure that you wash them and dry them after each use, they are made of high quality steel. thanks again Amazon for another great deal!!
Good knife for the money December 24, 2007 0 out of 1 found this review helpful
This knife is well worth $30, however it is no substitute for a real Chef's knife. If you are in the market for a high quality knife I highly recommend you search for a Global, Mac, or other high-end Japanese knife. You will not be disappointed, but plan on paying about $100 for it.
Favorite cooking knife! December 24, 2007 I'm really happy with this knife! I'm not a super-skilled cook, but with this knife, I can cut raw vegetables and meat really quickly, so it's a time saver. I'm not sure what makes it so quick at cutting-- maybe it's the weight, maybe it's the curvature of the blade, maybe it's the sharpness of the blade (even though I've been using it for a while and haven't had to sharpen it yet). All I know is that it's a great multipurpose cooking knife!
Great Knife for the Money! December 23, 2007 I'm a devoted fan of Henckel's cutlery and this knife did not disappoint me. It's balance is great, the blade razor sharp, and the price was fantastic.
