Great, convenient coffee. January 8, 2009
Someone brought a Senseo coffee maker into work about 2 months ago and I was instantly intrigued. I wound up liking it so much that I bought one for home as well.
This maker is top notch when it comes to convenience. Rather than having to grind my beans, measure them into a filter and fill a pot with water, I just stick a pod in and push a button. The coffee that comes out is incredibly fresh with a very pleasant foam layer. It quickly brews up a cup and the only clean up you are left with is dumping the used pod in the trash, which you don't even have to touch thanks to the handle on the holder.
I am a harsh critic when it comes to coffee, but I have found that there are so many roasts, flavors, and companies that make them that it is very hard not to find one you like. And if that doesn't do the trick, you can always buy a refillable "pod". I am also the only coffee drinker in the house so the one cup setup is perfect for me. If I lived in a larger household it could be inconvenient to wait in line to make my cup, but it's so fast that I don't really see this as a problem either. It works fine in our office of 21 people.
While it does create a bit of sound, it is no louder than any other kitchen appliance you might have.
There are 2 reasons why I didn't rate this as 5 stars. The first is that I didn't receive the glass mug that was supposed to be included in the Holdiay pack. Not a big deal, but it would have been nice. The other, is that the coffee it came with was kind of funky. It had the distinct taste of grounds that have been sitting around too long. Fortunately I had experienced much better coffee from the machine at work so I new what was going on. My suggestion if you don't like the coffee is to try purchasing a different flavor or brand fresh from the store. You will probably get much better results.

I first had to return this for one that would work. I did manage to figure out how to get this to run the water clear through, etc. but when you make a cup of coffee it sounds like a jumbo jett is landing in your kitchen. If you don't mind the noise, it makes good coffee.

There are three coffee drinkers in our home and we all like different strengths and flavors. The Senseo has been the answer to facing a pot of coffee that one of us didn't want. We each get a hot, fresh mug of coffee made exactly to our liking.
I have a second Senseo on my desk at work --no more getting the dregs from the communal pot.

Great coffee for reasonable price November 15, 2008
Europeans love their coffee. We wake up with it and go to bed with it. I was very excited to be able to buy this Dutch product after living in the US for a while. It provided me some great memories from home. The first one I bought was noisy and inconsistent. This newer one has many improvements and provides more consistency in the quality of the coffee. Amazon provides a great service with subscribe & save. You'll automatically receive a new shipment of the pods in intervals you select at a discount and all subscription orders ship free. I have been able to impress many of my American friends and European colleagues providing them a decent cup of coffee.
