Product Description Ready to go into the kitchen and start preparing? To either begin collecting your assortment of cutlery or adding to it you will find this set contains the most necessary and useful knives.
Amazon.com Review A great gift, this set provides a cook with enough versatility to accomplish most kitchen jobs. The chef's knife, with its broad blade and curved cutting edge for rocking through a chopping task, chops, minces, slices, and dices. The utility knife slices, cuts, and chops; its 6-inch blade is large enough to trim a chuck roast or subdue a head of lettuce. The paring knife cuts, peels, and cleans fruits and vegetables. Henckels' Gourmet line is a less expensive cutlery line featuring knives without bolsters and handles that are narrower and shallower than those of its premier lines--perfect for people with small hands. While this set is dishwasher-safe, hand washing is recommended. --Fred Brack

Gift well received January 9, 2007 My daughter is thrilled with the quality and heft of the knives!
great knives November 11, 2006 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I love these knives. Nice balance and well made. Very solid and they sharpen up nicely with little effort. It might be my fault for washing them in the dishwasher, but after a year I noticed little rust spots that began to appear. It will break my heart when and if they become too rusty to use.

These are low-end Henckels, which is fine, if that's what you're after. But don't expect the top quality usually associated with the Henckels name.
Excellent Starter Set September 5, 2000 48 out of 50 found this review helpful
This makes a very good starter set for me because I only needed to replace the 3 knives that I use everyday in my cutlery set. I am not a great chef but using these knives seemed to make me feel close to being one because of it's sharpness and smoothness. I believe in the saying "You get what you pay for". At first I thought these were a bit expensive for my simple lifestyle but once I've started using them, I felt good about cooking. Cutting carrots, slicing tomatoes and meat were a breeze, my wrist felt lighter. That's when I know I made the right choice.
