| Editorial Reviews:
Amazon.com Review For about three centuries cooks have known what scientists have yet to explain: whipping egg whites in an unlined copper bowl results in a creamier, more stable foam that's less susceptible to being overbeaten and dry. For making meringues, the traditional Italian dessert zabaglione, or other dishes that require whipped egg whites, this big bowl is unsurpassed. The bowl is 10-1/2 inches in diameter, stands 5 inches high, and has a traditional brass loop handle so it can be hung flat against a wall. This beautiful bowl could also be filled with fruit and displayed on a counter or table. Norpro also offers a 9-inch copper mixing bowl. --Fred Brack

Copper can't be beat when it comes to beating egg whites. When I opened the box and saw my new copper bowl I was amazed at the size and quality for the low price, but there it was staring me in the face! This is a gorgeous bowl even if all you do is hang it in your kitchen for decoration. It has a large ring attached near the rim so any size hook will be accommodated. The bowl is a wonderful size for handling...not too big, not too little and just right in weight. It has a 10.5 inch diameter and is approximately 4.5 inches deep. Even with this size, a little person like me (under 5 feet tall) can easily hold the bowl with my arm around it while mixing or beating with the other hand. BUY THIS BOWL...in fact, buy more than one, especially if you bake a lot and love the look and performance of copper. You won't be sorry. You will be getting a big bang for your buck. HELPFUL HINT TO NOVICES: In order to get the perfect texture of beaten egg whites, it is essential for the bowl to be VERY clean. I learned from an award-winning chef that to do this, put a few drops of white vinegar in the bowl right before using. With clean fingers totally cover the inside with the vinegar, then rinse, rinse, rinse. Dry it with a lint-free cloth and you're good to go.
