Editorial Reviews:

Product Description
The oven selector allows you to use just the top rack, just the bottom rack, or both. It even has a Bagel Best option which activates just the middle heating element - and that means your cut side gets toasted while the exterior gets warm. With all these options you can bake, toast, and reheat or warm foods. The time also has a Bagel Best option, as well as timing for up to 15 minutes. Unlike toasters this unit can accommodate really thick breads and pastries, yet its small footprint won't take up more space than a toaster.

Amazon.com Review
With the high expense of electricity, it can be costly to turn on a full-size oven for quick toasting and browning tasks. This toaster oven is a simple answer to keep electrical costs down. Use it for toasting bagels that don't always fit in a conventional toaster, or for melting cheese over a favorite sandwich. It can even be used for browning the tops of individual meringue tarts. Standing 13 inches high by 9 inches wide by 8-1/2 inches deep (including the handles), it obviously doesn't require too much counter space. It lets you select the specific elements--there are three: bottom, middle, and top--needed for a particular task. The oven also comes with a 15-minute safety auto shut-off, which is helpful for the busy and easily distracted teenager who maybe preparing their own after school snack. As a precaution, the oven should always be unplugged from the power source when it's not in use or when it's being cleaned. --Teresa Simanton

4 out of 5 stars Hard To Clean But Fits Tiny Kitchens   August 3, 2008
1 out of 1 found this review helpful

Some items, like left-over Pizza, turn soggy if re-warmed from the icebox in the microwave and for this & stuff like ToastedCheese, this works great.

My only caveat regards the wire trays that automatically come forward some 3" whenever the door is lowered to avoid burns removing cooked items. These are not 'snap-out or otherwise removable and the only way to scrape out spilled gunk & crumbs at the oven's bottom is thru [between] their gratings & then shaking the whole unit while holding it upside down and shaking again with the opened door side down. [Too bad Sanyo doesn't have a few women in R&D rather than just using them for Receptionist's & making tea.].

5 out of 5 stars A Mighty Little Toaster   May 9, 2008
This is the second one I have purchased. It's a great space saver and you can use it to not only toast bread and bagels, but to heat up all kinds of leftovers.

5 out of 5 stars Very happy with my Toasty   March 25, 2008
Who knew it would be so challenging to replace my 20+ year old G.E. Toaster Oven? It was the perfect size to fit in my 1941 era kitchen. After returning two different toaster ovens that burned up my toast, I was pleased to discover Sanyo's Toasty. It is a unique size that perfectly fits under my 14" high cupboards and doesn't take up much space. I don't need a toaster oven to roast a whole chicken as promoted by many brands. So to be able to toast 1 or 2 pieces of bread at a time or reheat a small portion of leftovers is perfect for me. It takes a little practice to figure out when to use the "Top Rack Only, Bottom Rack Only and Top & Bottom Rack." There isn't a temp dial but only a timer which may be a deal breaker to some. It touts that it is best for toasting bagels. I haven't tried any bagels yet but I'm very happy not to have burnt toast in a very cute styled toaster oven.

5 out of 5 stars Still Going At Nine Years   March 3, 2008
We received our toaster oven as a wedding gift nine years ago. Before we had kids we used it 4 or 5 times a week. Now that we have two kids, I use it at least once, but often twice, a day. We use it mostly for heating frozen foods (chicken nuggets, tater tots, frozen waffles..) and for making toast or bagels. It's probably the small appliance I use the most.

After nine years, it is definitely starting to show signs of wear. The window is clouded and the whole thing appears well used. The trays are in desperate need of replacement, but I don't think they are sold separately. Overall, though, we've been very pleased with our toaster oven!
