Product Description STAINLESS STEEL COFFEE PRESS,
Amazon.com Review Don't confine the pleasure of pressed coffee to home. With this combination of coffee press and vacuum-insulated thermos, European-style coffee turns up at the office or campground and stays hot three times longer than coffee made in a glass press. Simply spoon in ground coffee, add boiling water, place the lid on with plunger in the up position, wait four minutes, push down the plunger slowly, and . . . Presto! Fresh, piping-hot coffee for two or three hours. Lightweight and virtually unbreakable, the press has a handsome, satin-finish exterior and tough, nonslip, black plastic top and bottom. The press parts and smooth interior clean with sponge or cloth. --Fred Brack

Mostly great August 25, 2008 Unlike glass, doesn't break. The thermal properties don't really concern me because I decant into another container immediately after brewing.
Inexpensive, unlike the Bodum Columbia and Frieling. And much lighter. Can be banged around with impunity, unlike the Frieling which scratches (I've seen these in action -- very nice looking but a little cumbersome and that beautiful mirror finish won't last without some maintenance).
A few grounds always escape, no matter what you do. I pour through a tea strainer to catch them.
The plunging mechanism completely comes apart for thorough cleaning. Each piece -- other than the obvious black plastic top -- is completely metal (no silicone ring). The mesh screen is getting a little ragged around the edges from two months of daily use, but it's no big deal since I pour through a strainer anyway.
Made in Malaysia.
Thermos coffee press August 22, 2008 I brought this coffee press on a week-long camping trip. I literally took it out of the package and put it to use! From the first pot to the last, the coffee was great. Occasionally there were a few grounds to contend with, but I found that if I used a travel mug they didn't come through. I then tried the press at home and didn't get the same results. I guess it is the perfect camping coffee maker. Easy to use & clean up. I would recommend it to anyone who wants hot & strong coffee when camping. Definitely worth the money!
Excellent! August 21, 2008 I bought this because I share an apartment and the last two glass french presses were broken by various room mates. So, I thought this would be a great product because it's steel and will not shatter, no matter how my clumsy my room mates are or will be. It certainly does the job it's supposed to do and keeps the drink warm for longer than my glass pots ever did. The top just needs to be turned so that the heat does not escape. This is just a solid product and is predicted to last a long time.
Great alternative to glass press! August 14, 2008 I ordered this press several months ago for my husband, who is a bona fide coffee snob. We have used a glass (Bodum) press for many years, but when our carafe broke, I started looking for an alternative. We also travel a lot, and this press met my needs for both problems. The thermos keeps the coffee warm for at least an hour, but probably more. The stainless steel outer has been knocked over at least twice, and there's not so much as a scratch on it. It packs well for trips, camping and otherwise. If you like a coffee press, but don't like the breakable glass carafe, or how quickly it loses heat, this is the press for you! And the price is very affordable! Even coffee-snob-husband loves it!
Works Great August 7, 2008 My husband wanted a coffee press so I purchased this one for him for his birthday. There is no need to preheat it, if you put in boiling water it is too hot to drink right away and stays hot for quite awhile. We took it camping and it was the easiest way we have found for him to have real good coffee while roughing it.
