Works Depending on the Batter September 13, 2008 I tried quite a few different batters in this today.
Omelets didn't hold up so well. They just didn't really puff up and came out pretty flat and falling apart.
Brownies did not work at ALL. I'm surprisedthey even advertised brownie batter. I had the heat completely on low and they burned and never really turned.
Cake batter didn't fair so well either. They didn't advertise it but thought I would try it. I did manage to get a few to turn if I kept the batter thin, stayed on low heat, etc. But they just don't puff up well.
The actual pancake batter was the only thing that worked, and it worked well. You have to keep the heat down low for sure, my setting was on number 1. You also have to use a fair amount of oil or else they will stick. They come out lovely as long as you follow those 2 steps.
The down side is that you need a low heat so it takes a long time to make them. They are cute and fun for the kids, but to feed a family of 5, I would realistically need about 3 of them to make it work.
I can't comment on the cleaning since I just got it today. I dried it down and oiled it so hopefully it will prevent rusting.
I gave the rating a 3 because it does work well with pancake mix, and would be nice for 1 or 2 people. I would not really recommend it for a larger family.
Non-edible Puffs May 28, 2008 5 out of 5 found this review helpful
This product is a disgrace to pancakes! My younger brother talked my mom into getting it. He even bought some brownie mix to make brownie puffs. When we tried making pancake puffs, we had to destroy half of them to flip them and only one survived. It was a little bit bigger than a quarter. When we tried making brownie puffs, it was even worse. They all got torn apart and burnt and I'm not even sure they were edible. We ended up returning it to the store. This is the last "As Seen on TV" product I will ever want.
Child pleaser and Happy Meal May 9, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
My grandson saw this product advertised on TV. No store had this specific item. So, it was great to find it on Amazon and see so many different versions. He was ecstatic when he unwrapped this gift for his 6th birthday. Pancakes are his favorite food! They made puffs for breakfast the next day! No problems using this item.
pancake puff pan May 7, 2008 I got this pancake puff pan for my birthday. (I love to cook.) It was so kool. It was so easy to use and my puffs came out delicious!! Nothing stuck to the pan as I have read I have read in other reviews of this product. It doesn't take a rocket scientist to use it. Just make sure you spray with cooking spray.
Love it!!!
Works great April 9, 2008 1 out of 2 found this review helpful
This product works great - easy to use and easy to clean. I first spray it with Pam Cooking Spray and nothing sticks. I love it and so do kids. It takes some time to make a whole batch (you can only make 7 at a time) but it's worth it.
