Product Description Designed by Philips, one of the world's largest electronics companies, the SENSEO Coffee Machine brings great taste - in both design and coffee - to your kitchen. Loved original, hate supreme November 16, 2008 I bought 2-3 original Senseos and loved them, recommending them to friends. In May, 2008, I bought the "Supreme." I disliked it from the first, since the JavaOne pods that I liked and used in the original model were too big to fit properly in the Supreme. Today, November 15, 2008, the latch on the Supreme failed. That's about six months after purchase, whereas the original units continued to work until I retired them for various reasons.
I continue to recommend the original model. But, I cannot too strongly register my distaste for the Supreme. I urge prospective purchasers to save their money. Personally, I'm replacing the failed Supreme with a Keurig B70.
Simply the Best! October 31, 2008 Fast, fresh and frothy with no waisted coffee. A gourmet cup everytime. Friends can brew their varietal, flavor, decaf in about 20 seconds. "Have it your way" with Senseo at a fraction of the cost per cup. Pods are also in "green" paper filters vs others in plasitc. Love this machine!
Amsterdam re-visited October 12, 2008 We were introduced to this product while on holiday in Amsterdam this summer although we enjoyed coffee made this way in other places i.e. Hong Kong. What a disappointment not to be able to find this in Windsor Ontario. Thank goodness though for Amazaon I have my coffeemaker. And, thank goodness I live on the border so that I can buy my coffee in the US (yes, I delcare it)as I cannot buy it here. This is method is friendlier to the environment as the pods are tossed into the compost not like the K-cups, etc that the other makers use - and I don't know about you but it really doesn't matter how it is marketed, I cannot abide the thought of my coffee coming from a "necter", "syrup", "concentrate", "licquer" - I need to see, taste and smell coffee grounds.
Now I have two! August 19, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I have an original Senseo coffee maker that I have been using for three years. It makes great coffee! I read about a new model with some added features. Now I have the new top-of-the-line Senseo at home and the original model is kept at my office. It is especially nice at work because it is fast and very easy cleanup.
From Tassimo to Senseo August 16, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I've owned a Tassimo machine for a couple of years and loved it. Expecially for the espresso and "short" coffees.
I moved recently to Europe and decided to try Senseo and am glad I did. I have found that the "single serve" bags of coffee not made for Senseo also work well. Many brands including Illy coffee make single serve pouches that you can use with these, even if the Douwe Egberts coffee that is made for the Senseo machine is very good.
I should say though, that the short coffees the Senseo makes are not made in the most correct way in my opinion. The Senseo doesn't create enough pressure to make a strong enough espresso. It also has about 3 times more water in the espresso than it should have. The Tassimo espresso is not Italian "caffe bar" style, but it is considerably better than the other machines in this category for Espresso.
Compared with Tassimo, Senseo coffee pods are also more reasonably priced and available for auto-delivery subscriptions from Senseo and Amazon.
All of that said, I'm very pleased with the American coffee that is brewed by the Senseo. I feel no guilt for serving Senseo coffee after dinner to guests and would also recommend it as a great single serve coffee machine in this price range. Worth every penny.
