Smooth, Bold, dark coffee...but ONE cup per! September 6, 2008
I have the Philips Senseo Supreme machine (it's the silver one) and I just had my first cup of Kona Private Estate (Reserve) Diamond. The coffee is absolutely exceptional however ONE pod is good for about 3/4 of a regular "cup" of coffee. I normally brew 6 ounces per pod, which is TWO bars on the top of the Supreme machine. If you raise the water amount, as advised on the web, you will only weaken the strength you expect from a coffee of this quality. Also, the web also advises to use the 2-cup pod holder, but you will quickly realize that it DOES NOT WORK unless you enjoy wasting a Kona pod. Flatten the Kona pod as best you can with your fingers and place it in a single ONE pod holder.
I must say that this coffee is exceptional, and highly caffeinated, but I can't begin to tell you all of the positive remarks I have received from the Senseo Sumatra blend from my friends after dinner (which is also available at Amazon!). I like all of my beverages full strength and full flavored, i.e. full-bodied red wine.
I drink the Sumatra blend on a regular basis, the price is much better than this coffee and the robust, well-rounded flavors are completely what I am looking for in the morning. I recommend this Kona coffee as a treat once in a while or as a treat after a special meal with friends as a conversation piece.
It's ok January 22, 2008
the pods are bigger than the regular size, so they can't really fit easily into my brewer (Phillips Senseo). It taste stronger than I expected from 100% Kona coffee.
