Product Description Made out of 18/10 stainless steel, it features a gorgeous mirror finish on the outside, and a brushed finish inside. All steel mesh plunger mechanism .
Amazon.com Review By using high-quality 18/10 stainless steel for this French press, Frieling has smartly sidestepped the problem of breakable glass carafes. At the same time, the pot is beautiful, sleek, and sturdy, with a mirror finish and a self-contained design. Plus, with no filters or power cords to mess with, you can brew and serve right at the table. The full-length handle is both comfortable and stable, while the all-steel mesh plunger mechanism can be used with coarse coffee grounds or loose tea leaves. Frieling's double-wall construction keeps hot beverages hot and cold ones cold if you use the pitcher by itself for milk or juice. All parts disassemble to wash by hand or go in the dishwasher. The press holds 33 ounces and stands 9 inches high. --Emily Bedard

Great press, I use it all the time November 20, 2008 In reading many of the negative or so so reviews, I have to say there are more user issues than issues with this press. I alternate this press with my glass Boudin for making coffee everyday.
Yes, it is heavy. It's made of stainless steel not glass. It is supposed to be heavy. My finish has held up. I have a scratch on the side, that was my fault, but you have to look for it. I wash it in my dishwasher and the finish has held up fine.
There is no strainer in the lid like on the Boudin. If you tilt the lid forward into the front of the pot and then rock the back down into the pot, you will not splash or get grounds in your coffee. I've been making pressed coffee for more than 10 years. I guess it takes a little bit more skill than automatic drip.
I use about 6 tablespoons of coffee per pot for my tastes. I have no problem pressing it down as I grind it coarsely like you are supposed to. You can't use pre-ground automatic drip coffee and have good results. With 6 TBS it won't press all the way flush with the top, the stem sticks up maybe a quarter inch above the lid. So what.
I have an odd habit of drinking my coffee out of pint sized glass beer mugs. I get two 14 ounce cups this way. That will give you about 5 cups for a standard 5 ounce coffee cup. If you still use one of those. Yes you only get 28 ounces USABLE, not 35 ounces. Remember you packed coffee down on the bottom and you can't fill it above the lip.
I have had no problem with coffee staying hot for up to two hours. How long do you need to keep coffee hot anyway? Realistically I drink all of my coffee, the whole pot, within an hour, always hot.
This is a great, great press. I have no regrets buying one and I would recommend one to any coffee press aficionado or to someone who wants to take their coffee to the next level. It is NOT for the first time presser. For you, get a glass Boudin.
great french press October 23, 2008 I love the taste of the coffee in this pot. Looks great, easy to clean. Big enough for three people, maybe four. Doesn't stay warm long, but that is expected from a french press. I recommend it highly.
good tea pot October 15, 2008 We bought this Frieling Stainless-Steel 35-Ounce French Press to function as a stainless steel tea pot for 4+ people. It has served us well - it make more than 4 cups of tea, it looks nice and strains the tea leaves so well that the tea does not get bitter.
But what do I know... October 10, 2008 0 out of 3 found this review helpful
Beautiful! I bought this press on the basis of all the glowing reviews written here. Well, yes, this is a thing of beauty and a joy forever, no doubt, since it's unlikely to break. No pussy-footing around this baby. Everybody says the coffee is superb, too, but, ahem, it is not to my taste, and that would go for any coffee press, I suppose. This was my first try with one. So be sure you like French press coffee before investing in this or any other! Also, the other quibble, and it's major to me, is that, empty of coffee grounds or plunger, this carafe holds 26 oz. We measured. Since I make coffee for people who like a BIG cup, this only makes one or at most two cups, and I have to be back at the boiling and grinding. The coffee doesn't stay hot very long, either, but there has only been a second cup left standing in it once, so that's not a big problem for us. But don't forget, it IS beautiful, and will impress your coffee connoisseur friends!
Years Later this is my opinion... September 30, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I was reluctant at first. I was not happy with the taste of automatic drip coffee. I had purchased a cheep espresso "Pump" machine, no good. And, I could not afford a real espresso machine. So I bought the Frieling Stainless Steel Thermal French Press. I must say it has been great. It is still in the same shape today as when we purchased it 4 years ago. The coffee tastes great! If you are getting grounds in your coffee, you are pushing the plunger down too fast. If coffee is coming out the spout, you have filled it too full. This is the only coffee we drink in our house. Guests frequently comment on the unique look. Highly recommended 4 years later.
