Product Description Downsizing is a reality today, but does it always have to be a problem for those who remain in the organization? The fact is that employee morale falls when positions are cut, so managers have to reassure and motivate employees in down times. With numerous points to consider, this SuccessTools suggests that open and candid communication is critical. Managed effectively, downsizing does not mean that retained employees will start searching for new jobs tomorrow. Beverly Goldberg is the co-author of Corporation On A Tightrope: Balancing Leadership, Governance, and Technology In An Age Of Complexity. SuccessTools is a BH SmartDoc which provides a way to think about and start a key element on a management to-do list. BH SmartDocs are published by BrownHerron Publishing and are sold exclusively by Amazon.com.

Quick tips for handling a growing problem March 26, 2003 1 out of 2 found this review helpful
This short e-doc was a real help to me when going into a meeting on what to do to prevent discouragement and paralysis among those employees who were not let go after the second round of layoffs we've made in th past six months. It provided a great start point, and gave me ideas to investigate further. The vocabularly you get in these e-docs always makes doing additional research easier.
Extremely Lame March 22, 2003 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
This 4 page document had nothing but vague generalties: "Employee Morale falls when many positions are unfilled", "Managers must reassure and motivate employees in down times."
The advice was largely vague and useless: "Develop an open-door policy" , "Make the workplace as pleasant and stress-free as possible."
I'd continue giving a couple of more examples, but then I'd be giving the whole thing away.
A rip-off for three dollars. But even more distressing was the time I took ordering it.
