From the supplier: The national park services of Canada and the US were comparatively analyzed to determine the influence the structural allocation of decisionmaking power between politicians and civil servants has over agency policy. The results show that the centralization of power towards politicians tends to focus agency attention on concerns which are electoral in character. In contrast, giving more authority to career civil servants focuses agency attention on long-term goals and programs.
