The All-Natural Diabetes Cookbook won the 2007 Gourmand Best in the World Award in the category of Best Health and Nutrition Cookbook

The only whole food cookbook for people with diabetes—featuring 150 recipes

Eating with diabetes means eating healthy. But many cookbooks for people with diabetes substitute artificial sweeteners and processed foods at the expense of great flavor. Now if you want to make healthier choices, you don’t have to give up good food!

The All-Natural Diabetes Cookbook features 150 recipes that focus on whole foods and unprocessed ingredients. YOu can enjoy: Blanco Huevos Rancheros, Creole-Style Red Beans and Rice, Roasted Wild Salmon Fillet with Orange-Miso Sauce, Horseradish Pork Tenderloin on Naan with Arugula, and much, much more! YOu can do away with artificial ingredients that leave you feeling unfulfilled! Forget those “fat-free” products that are really just flavorless! Healthy eating is not only good, it’s also great tasting!

4 out of 5 stars cooking for a healthy lifestyle   October 9, 2008
I purchased this cookbook to help me plan meals and get a better understanding of how diabetics and pre-diabetics should think about food. Because I like to cook, especially ethnic meals, I was very surprised to see international recipes with authentic ingredients and spices. We've tried 8 recipes so far and have enjoyed every one. Each recipe includes a breakdown of carbs, fat, etc. and additional tips on how to pre-cook portions of the meal, alternative ingredients for variety and other useful suggestions. As I become more familiar with issues for pre-diabetics, I am also able to modify recipes from other cookbooks. I would recommend this cookbook for anyone who wants a healthy lifestyle.

I recently ordered this title. Recipes are straight forware, simple to make and do not use exotic ingredients.

5 out of 5 stars Outstanding!   July 18, 2008

I've never had to cook for a diabetic until my husband was diagnosed little over a month ago. I was skeptical about the recipes whether they would be great or bland. I'm a firm believer that this book will make anyone (even those who don't need to cook for a diabetic) salivate for the recipes. They were excellent!!! All were easy to prepare and I can find most of the ingredients at my local Walmart. I highly recommend this book!

5 out of 5 stars Great cookbook-even for non-diabetics!   June 25, 2008

After stumbling upon Jackie Newgent's "real food" (even for dieters)philosophy in a Women's Day magazine, I just had to check out her only published cookbook. I have been testing recipes from it for two weeks, and I am very impressed. I love healthy food and international cuisine, and this cookbook is a perfect fit for me. My family has absolutely loved everything I have made from this cookbook (none of us is diabetic). Chicken Scampi is restaurant quality (take Newgent's "Food Flair" tip, and add the toasted pine nuts and lemon zest-subtle and sophisticated!). The book is packed with useful information and helpful tips. It is fun for an experienced cook, but detailed enough for beginners-I am going to purchase 3 more copies for my daughters!

4 out of 5 stars Refreshing!   June 19, 2008

I appreciate the author writing an all-natural cookbook for diabetics. It is so refreshing to see a cookbook for people with diabetes that does not use or recommend artificial sweeteners and other artificial low-fat ingredients. My husband has diabetes and it is possible to eat well with diabetes without resorting to "artificial foods". I love the tips and her wholesome approach to meal planning.
