Baggu ("bag" in Japanese) is machine washable, and folds up into it's own pouch small enough to tuck into your handbag or pocket. Made of super-tough ripstop nylon in bright, fun colors, it's the re-usable bag that's eco-chic.

Why Baggus are so great? You want to replace your old friends, the paper & plastic bags, with something that does their job without creating needless waste or harming the environment. Using one Baggu for one year replaces 300 to 700 disposable bags.

One Baggu holds the contents of 2 to 3 plastic grocery bags. Six bags can hold a whole cart full of groceries.
Baggu Bag handles are the perfect length: you can hold them in your hand, on your forearm, or over your shoulder.
They are made from super strong rip-stop nylon (holds 25 lbs) so they are light (2 oz) and compactible. They fold into a flat 5 by 5 inch pouch that easily slips in a purse or pocket. That way they are always handy when you need them.
Baggu bags have a nice big gusset in the bottom so they will sit flat when they are filled (good for eggs & milk.)

Smart Design

Plastic Bags & the Planet
The average family brings home 1,000 bags every year. Most of those bags end up in land fills. That really adds up - 100 billion plastic bags are sent to landfill in the US each year.

In landfills, it can take up to 1000 years for a bag to decompose. Plastics don't biodegrade, they photo-degrade, breaking down into tiny toxic pieces that contaminate soil and water or harm wildlife.

Don't be fooled by the light weight material. These are STRONG, well made, and capable of holding 25 lbs each. This set contains 5 bags plus a little drawstrubg storage/carrying bag -- which means you could load up 125 lbs of groceries using just this set.

In our neck of the woods, disposable grocery bags may soon be scarce or expensive (or both) -- new laws are under consideration that will require stores to charge $.20 per bag, so using reusable bags for normal grocery shopping makes sense.

These baggu bags are a great option. The colors are bright and vibrant - much brighter than the photo above appears. I can't wait to use mine on my next trip to the supermarket.

I want to write this review to help people trying to make a decision between the various Baggu offerings on Amazon. If you need info on the bags themselves, try looking at the multitude of comments on the BAGGU Reusable Shopping Tote - 6-Pack. (You'll find that people are very happy with them.)

This particular item is a special FIVE-pack of the bags in "jewel" colors with a black storage bag included. (The item description, at this point, is unclear, although it's likely to be altered once this review is posted.)

You usually have to buy baggu bags in groups of six for the best value, both here and on Baggubag dot com. Six bags and a storage bag would have cost me twelve dollars more at the product website. Because each baggu holds 2x or more what a disposable plastic shopping bag does, this group of five is sufficient for almost all of my shopping trips. I appreciate being able to buy this slightly smaller set with the included storage bag to keep them tidy in my car or purse.

There are a multitude of cute designer-y reusable shopping bags available online, but as I must share my bags (and shopping duties) with a man, I especially love that this set doesn't contain "unmanly" colors. If I'd shelled out more at the baggu website, I could've picked all the colors myself, but these are just fine.

Long live Baggu!

I love these bags. I use them for everything - carrying lunch to work, gym bag, beach bag - and I always keep one or two stashed in my purse for groceries or other shopping trips. Great for travel. They wash nicely, but be careful with the bright colors - they bleed a LOT!
